Chapter 2
This chapter seems to be where we get to know how the children of this world are raised and how sex, child-rearing, and sexuality are treated. A notable new character in this chapter who I will personally keep a lookout for going into the future appeared, Mustapha Mond. Mustapha seems to be one of the highest authorities of this society as it is said in this chapter that there are only 9 other people with his job and rank in the world, that being the Controller. Mustapha seems to be a rather calculating person who, while not unkind or unwilling to educate those who he sees fit, does have the demeanor of somebody who is not to be trifled with. He interestingly enough seems to have access to ancient banned texts such as the Christian Bible and different poetry and history books. A major world-building detail is that the knowledge of history has been almost unilaterally destroyed so there is most likely going to be a lot of internal strife when knowledge of what actually happened reaches the hitherto unaccounted for main characters. I have a suspicion that Mustapha will play some sort of antagonistic role in the future. A major theme of this book seems to be the battle between nature versus artifice which is the battle between what is natural and what is artificial. This world seems to have been entirely wiped of nature in reproduction and birth and it has been replaced by the artifice of artificial gestation and test-tube babies.
